Updates on recent break-ins

I last posted about my home being broken into. Here's an update.

I met up with some affected residents last Wednesday and we decided that we should call for a meeting with more residents staying at the affected blocks. We met today and decided that we should petition to the Developer.

It is probably no surprise that Singaporeans are an apathetic lot. While most are supportive and coorperative, no one wants to the take the lead. I guess everyone is just so busy and just waiting for someone else to do the job. Anyway, I somehow became the village head/indian chief of sorts. It is not something I desire since I'm already pressed for time for my work and feeling all the discomfort from the pregnancy. But seems like no one is stepping up to the plate and this is something I feel quite strongly. Maybe I'm just a quarrelsome person. :P

Anyway, it became my role to rally the support, write the letters and liaise with the people concerned.

I hope it won't be a futile attempt and I hope in the end, the Developer would do something without us taking too drastic measures. But I'm pretty prepared... if the situation is not salvage, we may have to escalate this to a media and legal tussle. sigh...

bravo for taking charge. it's just like you :) actually the last i went to your house, i noticed that you did not lock your front door and there is no gate in your house. always lock your front door even tho there are security guards. when i go out i always lock my bedroom windows also (the only windows without grills). you can never be too careful, esp when you have kids in the house.

Thanks. I guess I had too much trust in the security. Sigh... Vinc says this whole thing will drag out so I better plan for covering officer when I go for my ML... He says otherwise, I'm sure to troop downstairs and all over during confinement to follow up... ha ha ha...

Oh gosh, so scary...so wat's the thief's motive if it's not $ or valuables? It's so strange...
I never trust the security of condos, they don't check and sometimes the back gate is left open by the residents as well or when the residents are out, the stranger can also happen to want to go in without the need to pass the security...actually if such an incident happen, it it the security's responsibility?

So lucky that nothing is missing, especially those diamonds....

So you to be the village chief, but it's a pregnant village chief. Singaporeans are like that, they don't like to take charge of such things, they just complain among themselves....

Not bad lah... I managed to mobilise about 20 people to get signatures. We have gotten more than 100 signatures in 3 days. Hopefully we can get more after the weekend. Vinc thinks it was a recce break-in and they didn't have sufficient time. Either than they are too dumb.. just looking for gold so that it can be pawned.
